AHas anyone tried the lace molds on eBay that come out of china? I was wondering if it was worth the $4 to give it a whirl!
You are asking if you should worry about wasting FOUR DOLLARS????
Wow, I bet you have wasted more than that on a big Texan hairdo
In all seriousness though, (cause you KNOW I was joking, right?) I wouldn't even ask here - you will get half of the people freaking out because it is from China ... (hello!! the rest of the world is equally as scared of EATING things from the USA - that you quite happily eat AND worse, don't even want to know that it might not be good) and the other half will say ..... they are OK
Buy ONE - try it - if YOU are happy with it - buy MORE
ALol, actually I'm from San Francisco and not into the big Texas hair! I was just curious if anyone had tried them, it's not really about wasting the $4. Guess, I'll give one a try and repost with my review.
I think it does come down to personal preference - there are good AND bad ones out there.
I have a few that are good and a few that are bad! the bad is because the mould is not level - so when you scrape over to remove excess 'flexipaste' types of sugarveil products - there are areas of the mould that lack the detail - or areas will break because they are not as deep as rest of mould.
AI have bought a few and they seem to be the same as the name brand molds. I am sure there are lower quality ones as well. The biggest headache was waiting forever for the package. :)
I've ordered several. Some are more flexible than others. Some of the ones that are out of the pink silicone are very stiff, and the ones that are aqua colored are very soft. I've only used Sugarveil so far. The softer molds seems to release better. I had trouble with the pink ones, but the detail was really intricate, so that could have been part of the problem. They are very small though, I think about 6 inches long. So, it will take several batches to go around a large cake. I have some of the GSA Sugar Dress to try. Hoping it will be better than Sugarveil.
