Hello everybody!

My friend is a fisherman and for his birthday next week, I want to make him, what else? a fish cake!

I'd appreciate if you sent me any good tutorial about making a fish cake (for adults), something like this

Thank you in advance!

thank you very much. I had already seen this tutorial and the result is awsome, exactly what I need. Yet, the dark part is that the  carving of the fish shape is not shown, and that's what interests me most. So if there's any other suggestion, I'd aprreciate. Thank you again.

You're welcome. Start with a sheet cake (13'' by 9'' or 15'' by 11'' depending on how big you want your finished fish).

Then carve the four corners of the cave in curved / round cuts. This will give you the basic fish shape you see in the beginning of the tutorial link I posted.

I found an image that kind of depicts this explanation better;

Good luck :smile:

I see..So what I need is to carve the corners to give them a more curved shape...

Thanks again, you helped a lot :)

I think you could do this either of two ways:

Take your baked sheet cake and carve it in half lengthways (so the 13" by 9" becomes two 13" by 4.5" cakes. Then put in your filling in between both layers and stack them. THEN start your curved edge carving. this will be more applicable for a longer and narrower fish such as a catfish.

Alternatively; bake two layers of the sheet cake; fill in between and then stack them. THEN begin your rounded edges carving. This gives a taller cake and allows you to carve the slight 'slope' on the top of the fish. Let me know if you'd like more clarification. Hopefully someone else would be able to offer more insight into this :)
