$2.75 each with just a buttercream swirl and then upwards of that depending on complexity of the decorations. When I put just one easy, cut out decoration on a cupcake the price goes up to $3.25. Additional details/colors, it's would go even higher.
It's really hard to say because every market is different. There are people here who are able to charge $15.00 per cupcake because the work is so amazing and they have clients willing to pay. But on average, what I stated is industry standard in my area, MA.
Now I want a hot dog!
AA fair rate for any product is a rate that ensures you cover ALL of your costs, make a decent wage and stay within local market rate. What that number is depends on what your costs are, how long it takes you to make them and how much you want to pay yourself, and where you live.
I worked in a shop in Florida where they charged $3.50 for simple single cupcakes, and adjusted from there. Lots of simple cupcakes? $2.75 each. Decorations add to cost, so knowing what goes on the cc is key to pricing....The hotdog comparision is brilliant. But Steak N Shake has footlong CHILI DOGS with fries for $3.99!

But Costco has an all beef footlong plus a soda for $1.50! I thought that response was in jest.
