I am having a hard time figuring out how to make this cake serve 150 http://www.pinterest.com/pin/126100858289705113/ She likes that the heights of the tiers are different so I need to stick with that and when I mentioned a back up cake so that this one didn't have to be so big she didn't seem to like the idea... Thanks!
you'd have to go about 12x12 x 9 x 6--that's approximately 160 servings where the bottom cake is really two tiers the same size--
but if one of my brides chose a silhouette then she lost control on the servings--if she wants certain amount of servings she cannot firmly dictate the silhouette--i mean she could say rounds or whatever but my brides didn't get both choices--you are right to want to use the picture as the guide and make up servings with another cake because the size i have described will not look like that cake exactly--
to get that exact look you have to take the width and the height in perspective--so your client needs to be advised she can't have both imo
because it kinda looks like a 10 x 7 x 5 to me--or even more petite perhaps--who knows but i doubt that bottom cake is a 12--
what i'm trying to say is your client is blowing it out of proportion
idk--if you get the zig zags to scale it would probably work
Ok thats what I was thinking I just wasn't sure how to make the bottom one serve enough but I will probably make four 12" and cut them like two 2 layer cakes. I am thinking I will use a cardboard separator plate between the two cakes and just frost over it so you can't see it... I am a friend of the bride so I should be at the reception to help the server if they need it.
cool--yes exactly right--plus youi get extra points for being 'on call' for her --nice touch--i hide at weddings where my cakes are served
what part of arkansas are you in? we're going to little rock & beebe tomorrow--my husband fixes machinery and i go along for the ride sometimes--it keeps us off the phone all day to each other --ha! we were in mississippi yesterday
"road trip!"
I live in North AR in Harrison. That sounds like fun! Much more fun than staying home alone!
I know what you mean about hiding! I really hate being at weddings that I do the cake for cause if a kid crashes into it or something I don't want to know about it
years ago for vacation we stayed at aunt sadie's bread & breakfast & went to eureka springs & did the passion play up there--oh yeah and silver dollar city--awesome part of arkansas!
I love Silver Dollar City! I'm gonna have to go up there and see the Christmas lights :)
Have fun on your trip! I haven't been to the Little Rock area much so I don't know of any fun stuff around there.

I was just reading through this thread and saw Arkansas mentioned so I thought I'd say hi! I am in North Little Rock!
Well you do travel around our area a lot! The husband is lucky to have you along for company :) I am just assuming from your username you are from the Memphis area? I have been wanting to take my husband there. He's not an Arkansas native and has never been!! I think that is just crazy!

yes--memphis ten oh see --- the bluff city on the big river
memphis is a great place to live and to visit--whenever you might get to come try to get a view of the bridge at night when it's all lit up--
it's quietly peacefully powerfully amazing--there's no place like home--
