Hi, I suppose like everyone else I made the 'Pigs in mud Cake' (I am a beginner) so that was an easy one to start with!. I keep getting ideas based on that cake, ....i.e bears in the woods....................Santa's in snow etc., etc.,  My problem however is this, I cannot find any tutorials anywhere to give me an 'idea' on where to start.

I seem to have the ideas but not  how to do them!!! However, I have only done one so far!!!

I was thinking of perhaps making a choc cake crumb coat the top and sides, put Cadbury flakes around the side, then pipe green bushes, leaves, BEARS, but not sure how on earth to make the trees for the top of the cake!!!

The Santa's in Snow I think would be much easier as it would be more like the pigs in mud, but white ganache and red Santa's with black boots falling all over the place with  perhaps sacks of toys and a few chimney pots (no idea again on the chimney pots and pressies!!1)

I think I'll give up!!!!!!!!!! Just keep thinking of ideas and let the experts do it lol!!!

I've seen people turn ice cream cones into trees.  Flip it upside down and then ice/pipe it with "branches"

Something like this:

or

not sure if that helps at all

Someone just the other day asked about making trees and I posted a picture of how I made mine. Perhaps this would fit with what you are trying to do.

Emma couldn't decide which Disney princess was her favorite, so all were invited to the party at the pink castle. Since this is a friendly castle, there is no drawbridge over the piping gel moat--- rather, a welcome bridge. The cake is WASC with strawberry buttercream, and strawberry MFF over white ganache. The towers are RKT topped with gumpaste slates. The trees and rosebushes are chocolate covered grape stems dipped into green rice krispies for leaves. Water lilies and roses are gumpaste, as is the birdbath filled with piping gel. I had so much fun making this cake that I had to hold myself in check, not to over-do. The client provided the figurines.

I used grape stems which were dipped in chocolate. While still wet, I rolled them in Rice Krispies which I had dyed green. This would make a deciduous forest, rather than an evergreen forest which the ice cream cones would provide. It all depends upon where you want your bears to live!   :D

Here is another take on the ice cream cone tree. I think it would be a little easier than piping with BC, as I used fondant cut outs for the "branches".

This was a fun cake to make. Three year old little boys are so easy to please, especially when they love trains. It is WASC with a cheesecake mousse filling. The train is gumpaste with cotton candy smoke. The railroad ties are sugar wafer cookies while the rails are fondant. The trees are fondant covered sugar cookie cones and the crossing sign is pastillage. The whole thing was covered with white chocolate ganache and topped with MFF.

At any rate, good luck with putting your ideas into cake. You have a good start with a fertile imagination.

Lilly, one thing about the ice cream cone trees that might be of help to you. I put a glob of melted white chocolate in the tip and inserted the blunt end of a long wooden skewer. When it solidified, it made a good handle for applying the fondant branches and also provided a means of inserting into the cake, making the tree more stable.

As far as having a lot to learn, just remember: the journey is so darn much fun!

thank you so much jan, I am really grateful for any help, and I am so so grateful.  if is unbelievable how kind people are, I hope we can be friend too <3  I am disabled but, I am a tryer and I will carack this baking lark if it kills me!!! they said I wouldn't make the night about 15 years ago!!! well, I did and aim to make the most of it!!! I intend to well, I started off doing a pigs in mud cake easy I know but making the little piggies was a first and I loved it.  so the next one, I want to base it on the same theme but instead of kit kats around the cake I have got to think of something else and then put tress and bears on the ganache which I will have to make green???? (not sure about that yet lol!)   I might try and do some tiny leaves and some well whatever they have in woods apart from bears hee hee!!!! I hope it turns out as I have a able bodied friend who is lovely but she has taken to this like a duck to water and I can't help feel inadequate

Take care and God Bless xxx
