I'm a recently licensed home baker and have my first large wedding cake due in a few weeks. I'm wondering what the standard protocol is for wedding cake tables. Do you provide the cake stand or riser?  Do you use one that the venue provides? Do you decorate the table or is that the bride's responsibility?

Thank you for your help! I don't want to look like a newb :)

I have plateaus to rent if they need to.   Sometimes they pay the venue for theirs and I use it...ONLY if it is the size I have specified though.    I do a little decorating depending on the situation....mainly with the  greenery or flowers they provide.   It has been for me, that most brides have someone decorate because they have special "things" they want.

Just have an in-depth conversation to see what she wants/expects from you ...then you decide to do it or not....and for free...or not.

Hi Rica, personally, I discuss cake stands, etc. during the tasting. The bride can decide if she'd like for me to supply it or not for a deposited fee. There is a clause in the contract that outlines that the deposit for the stand will be returned when the stand is returned. Also, some brides leave the table decor up to whomever is coordinating their wedding. But again this could be something you could discuss upfront at the tasting and work the table decor into the cost. Good luck on your first wedding cake!!
