I glanced at your cake again and the watermark caught my eye because it looks like it says "Cake panties" and I laughed out loud.

I swear I am like a 12 year old boy sometimes.

That's so funny... and you're absolutely right!!! I've moved it slightly so it's a bit clearer when I post it on my website.

So how do you cut and serve?

It seems like the restaurant lifted the whole thing up, off the central dowel.

They then cut the tiniest slivers of cake I've ever seen!! Instead of cutting a slice of cake that went through all three layers (remember, there were five cakes and each one was tortes twice so there were three layers) a they just gave a small piece of one layer!!!!

Hence there were two full cakes and a couple of layers left. Oh, and they cut it from the bottom.

So when we got back home to my husband's aunt, I cut the top off (ie the Rice Krispie treats and tube) then just cut up the cake ... Just sliced through until I hit the cake board.... Then when I'd done the whole cake, I removed the cake board and started again with the next cake.

I probably haven't explained that very well??

:-D

I had a couple of glasses of wine and as someone who a) hardly ever drinks and b) is a cheap date when she does, I worried I may have waffled that a bit?

Brilliant job on the cake!

So happy for you that it survived the journey, it would have been a tragedy if anything had happened to damage such a wonderful piece of cake art!!!! :D

Thanks for all your lovely comments.

It really was a help, just being able to come onto CC and 'let it all out' whilst making this cake!!
