Can someone please tell me how long I have to wait to paint on a fondant coverd cake, once the cake is covered.  Can I do it right away, or should I wait a day?

Thanks!

I usually put it back in the fridge for about an hour so that the buttercream gets stiff again and then I use colored piping gel to paint on the fondant. Check out this video from CaljavaOnline of Making a Monet Water Lily Cake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L1QJmt1C78w&list=PLD2D062A160ADFD00&index=11 This is what I used as my tutorial in painting an easter cake I made a while back. Hope this helps! Good Luck :D
