AI started selling stuff at my local farmers market about a month ago, as I'm trying to expand my customer base I had to buy a table($60), canopy($160), supplies, and pay a daily fee of $25 to be there

Today a girl walks up to me and Asks if I'd be ok with her using my space from now on She wants to come to the market and sell samosas (but doesn't have a tent or table), and management told her to ask me if I'd let her use my space (since I guess from a distance it seems like I have room - or more likely..because I'm the new girl) I immediately wanted to help her out (she seemed like a nice girl) and said sure no problem Then when she walked away it hit me.. What the .... was I thinking? I really don't want her to use my tent and table.. When I joined a month ago I was told the same thing (ask around, maybe someone will let you use theirs) but I went and got myself what I needed.. I wasn't about to interfere with other peoples business

Now to get to the point

I can't reach this girl in anyway (I don't have her number, neither does management), but I really don't want her using my tent and table... I did everything without help and paid a lot of money to have what I have (which isn't much) What do I do?? Next week she's gonna show up with a truck load of samosas, I can't just tell her "sorry I changed my mind" cause I already told her yes.. But I really don't want anyone in my space, (not only is it unprofessional, having cupcakes and baked goods beside hot Indian food, but am I really gonna let someone hitch a free ride when I'm struggling to thrive as a business

Any thoughts? (Aside from "you're an idiot for saying yes" or "you shouldn't have said yes" - I know that already) :(

when she shows up let her know that this is a one time offer so she can see how the sales for her product go.  make sure you make it clear that it is only this one day and that she will need to invest in her own table, etc for future use.

AHow much rent are you charging her?

AI agree that you need to allow her use for that one day - you did tell her it was ok. But tell her that after further consideration, you don't think it's something you could commit to on a regular basis and offer her as much advice as you can to help her get started with her own booth.

AThanks to you all for the replies, that sounds reasonable (wish I would have used my brain though, but oh well.) Jason, I haven't brought that up with her yet, I'm pretty sure she assumes she's staying there for free.. Either way, I'm not paying full price to be there like that (she can either give me half of it or management can cut my payment in half) Thanks again for all your input

For free?! If she gets there and doesn't expect to pay half, I would not let her put anything in my booth.
