She probably priced the cake elsewhere and got set straight by the quotes she got.

Thank you howsweet on replying lots of quotes and points to think about , I only started with friends and family as they tried my cakes when I was learning and then they tell people who ask if ill do them a cake, I do no friends and family expect things for nothing at time , I don't advertise and I'm not on Facebook so it is just word of mouth I can't do it full time as I hold down two part time jobs and have a young family so it was more of a enjoyable hobby that I didn't want costing me , thank you I will take on everyone's comments , hope I haven't upset or affended anyone otherwise I wouldn't of posted ,I just feel £70 was a fair price for the work time and effort involved
Thanks to all who have replied
Oh, I see - I make my living this way and the last customers I want are friends and family. They know how expensive mys cakes are and probably don't even want to get in a conversation about possibly buying one. I do occasionally give a cake away.

I didn't even think of that. Holy cow.

I bet you're right
It's not a cake I see buying my daughter no matter how old she is. My daughter and I share a lot, but we never have chats about ***y lingerie and whips. Not in a personal sense.
AIt's a cultural difference between the two countries is all. Nothing wrong with it in the UK at all, things are just different there.

That's interesting...if my daughters are using whips in the bedroom, this is not something that would be shared with me. At least I hope not. One of them has an occasional habit of sharing something I'd have rather not have heard, leaving me with a visual I could have also lived without. It must be her English genes speaking.

Let her get a £10 cake at Morrisons, it won't look anything like that. If she's lucky it will be a sheet cake with some monkey iced corset shape on there, and she can spend all night explaining what it's supposed to be. Her friends will ask her why she didn't come to you for a cake, and she'll have to say she didn't want to spend the money.
What kind of business is she in?
(I'm not going to go into whether this is really an appropriate cake for a mother to get for her 18 year old daughter !)
Glad to see I wasn't the only one thinking that cake is a little out there for a just-turned-18-year-old. Especially with the whip: makes you think of S&M. Yeesh!
AI'm English, live in the UK, and this behaviour is not normal at all. At least not where I live (and I live in Es***!) That's like me assuming all teenage girls in the US twerk with married men 15 years their senior just because Miley Cyrus did it. These kind of cakes would usually be ordered for a hen do (bachelorette party).
AI didn't mean to imply that everyone is like that in the UK, only that it's more commonplace and more accepted than here. Or maybe it's just that all my family and friends are chavs!
AIt's OK. I'm just a bit sensitive to stuff like that. Growing up where and when I did I obviously had to deal with Es*** girl jokes throughout my teenage years. Even dyed my (natural) blonde hair brown to avoid being a stereotype!
ABetter turn in your passport now!
Actually I was laughing the other day at the news when they had a story about someone who died from being hit in the head with a stiletto. Not that it was funny but I did wonder if it was white!

I didn't see that story. To be honest I probably would have laughed too, I can have a dark sense of humour sometimes.
AIt was here in Houston, I'm from the UK but I live in the US now which is how I have the insight on both countries.

Ah OK :) for what it's worth it sounds like something that would happen in Es*** on a Friday night!
I've personally witnessed it before but it was in Torquay.
