OK, doing something a bit different here. I want to do a cake for my dentist here on Rhein Main. The base is closing, and the office is overworked but are great to work with, and one dentist inparticular that got my middle son over the fear of dentist after a bad experience with one. Now even my 4 year old loves this dentist and sees her in the BX and elsewhere and says hi to her. SO I want to do something for them and for her. Any ideas? ALL ideas are welcome!

If you could find a lip pan, you could make it look like it had a big toothy grin.

I just keep picturing the really big lips cake with fondant teeth. Or a sheet cake with many lips made from a candy melt mold with perhaps Chiclet teeth. I know there is a pan with smaller lip molds for cakes. Or if the dentist is "off the wall", a buttercream transfer of the Grand Canyon with the caption, "the Grand Canyon Salutes You" in reference to, you know, a big mouth, haha! Or a whole bunch of yellow smilies with Chiclet teeth.

You could use the stand-up bear pan and decorate it as a dentist.

WOW quick suggestions all really really good, now i have things to start out with!!!!! Yah!!!!!!!!

The first thing that came to my mind was the dental mold that dentists have in their offices to show people what the mouth looks like. You could cover the cake in fondant and the teeth could either be fondant of chiclet gum peices. The other idea I had was to make a cake that was decorated how ever and then the topper would be made of fondant that you had molded a dentist chair with someone lying in it and a dentist over looking the patient doing some work on them.

here's one i've been wanting to make but you don't get many requests for a "tooth" cake. use the doll mold or the pampered chef mixing bowl to bake the cake. Then, depending on what part of the tooth you want to carve you can carve the large end to look like the top of a molar or the little end to look like the roots of a molar. cover in fondant or MMF. if you make the top of the molar you could even make a filling on it!

Boy you all have me thinking especially thecakemaker, like I usually do I will see if I can take a bit of all ideas and go with it. Its hard to get fondant and stuff like that here, but going to Hanau this weekend I will have to look there!

I just got in another old Wilton yearbook. There are instructions for a doctor cake and a nurse cake using the ball pan & the oval or square pan. I can scan & email to you if you would like. I would think it would be fairly easy to make one of them look like a dentist.
