APricing is discussed extensively on this site. Please search 'pricing' or find jason_kraft, as he has an article in his signature line that explains pricing, setting up a business, etc. we cannot tell you what to price because we are all from different areas - countries and continents, even. The Little Mermaid is a copyright protected character, and you would need permission from Disney to replicate it.

ANo problem. I know you'll find more than you expect when you search for pricing and copyright laws, but a lot of professionals are pretty passionate about our industry, and there is a ton of useful information here (and some drivel :-) ) Happy reading!!

Other than the last two which used toys for the characters, those examples barely resemble Disney's Ariel. No one has the right to keep you from making a red headed mermaid. It's hard to say exactly where the line is drawn, but I'd say a red headed mermaid sitting next to a fat yellow and blue striped fish is crossing the line.  But no one can stop you from putting crabs, seaweed, octopuses and fish with a mermaid on cakes and cupcakes.

What you charge is going to vary depending on the quality of your work.

On a side note that one on the little cake with the cupcakes and the mermaid sitting in the middle of the gel icing looks eerily similar to a cake from my website. Do you have the link to where that came from? Sometimes if someone copies one of my cakes, they have copied several and I like to collect copies and take offs of my designs.
