I saw this cake on (thecakestore ) . They show this cake with flowers and fruit but I love the way you decorated it with the fans and flowers. After seeing your decorated cake I think I may just try to make a smaller version for my sons anniversary. Great job on the cake.

So, tell us, how did you temper your chocolate? Do you use the big marble slabs? Have you the space for them in your work site or kitchen?

I'm so jealous, we are working with chocolate show pieces and we had to make those skinny rolls when we did our chocolate boxes! as a matter of fact I should upload that!..

Good luck on your cakes, if this is your first cake, you are head and shoulders above the crowd already!

Maybe you can post the tutorial on your technique!

I'm going to see if I can upload MY first attempt at a wedding cake..lol

as soon as I UPLOAD IT>...hahaha

Wpw. your cake is beautiful. I can't think of anything new to say about it that everyone hasn't already said except WOW! If this is your first cake I would have to say you are an artist and a natural at decorating cakes. The only we are all asking are details. Please.

I think what SBC was saying is not that this was his/her first cake... but rather, this was the first time that SBC had done this particular design. At least that's the way I interpreted the post.

And yes, it is an absolutely incredible cake!

Di, I think you must be right! Somehow it just doesn't seem possible to make a cake this beautiful and this perfect as your very first cake.

Maybe sbc will come back to us and clarify. If it is truly a first cake, Collette Peters and other top decorators better watch out! Janice

Hi again Di! I just now noticed that you are in Garland. Just wanted to say hello, and glad to meet you!

My first decorated cake is actually in my gallery (at least my first in over 20 years), it is the round quilt patterned one that I made for practice before making the birthday cake for my mother's 90th last November. Sure not pro quality! Janice

MMMMMMM...Maybe the mystery will be solved one day.

I know that this cake takes a lot of work if you make all the components yourself.

It is very similar to something I've seen in the magazines....magazines like Chocolatier and such.

Very nicely done...I've been doing cakes for 27 years and I tend to shy away from doing replicas of magazine cakes as I don't have the eqiupment and/or space.

SBC ...has skills! ( as we say in Miami!)

Janice, I love the round quilt cake... no one would ever guess that was your first in 20 years! That's so sad what happened to your mother's cake... I would've cried.

Thanks for the 'howdy'... can't believe we're so close. Plus plus plus... our birthdays are exactly one month apart -- mine's July 21st!
