Hi! I am making the wedding cake for my sister's wedding and it's the first one I've made... I've baked all four layers, covered them in sugar paste icing and even practiced stacking them - all good so far (touch wood!)

I have also made a ton of roses out of sugar paste (not sure if this is the same as fondant... I've used Renshaw's ready to roll icing) and they are busy drying now...

My question is, how can I attach these to my cake? I've made a few on wires, a few on toothpicks, and a few just as they are which I want to just plop on the cake... I was thinking of making up some royal icing with egg whites, icing sugar and lemon juice, but I am worried this will mess up the icing on the cake!

Any advice anyone has would be really, really appreciated!! (the wedding is on Saturday!!!!!) :-S

Thank you!

AI would stick wires on all of them!

I use melted white, or colored candy melts to match cake and stick them on with that, dries quickly and doesn't move. If on wires, insert small straws into cake and put those in the straws...some suggest dipping wire into melted chocolate too, but I have not done this. HTH
