It looks beautiful!  Maybe a little more of an overlap on the bottom petals.

Keep up the practicing.  I haven't ventured into gumpaste yet, so Good for You.

Made tiny roses out of Satin Ice fondant:

made big roses out of homemade modeling chocolate:

homemade Modeling Chocolate roses, (milk choc clay, dark choc clay, white chocolate clay,)Swiss Meringue Buttercream

but the realism & beauty of gumpaste flowers is still a skill I have yet to attempt:

I just sent for a video from a website called 'International Sugar Art Collection' by Nicholas Lodge.  A video is a good way for me to get an idea of how they make those awesome real life looking flowers & sprays for professional cakes.

Also sent for a book called 'Sugar Roses for Cakes' by Tombi Beck.......hope all this professional instruction will set me on a good path to success.

Of course we all have our limits, but how can you possibly find your boundaries unless you explore as far and as wide as you possibly can? I would rather fail in an attempt at something new and uncharted than safely succeed in a repeat of something

cakealicious7: your rose is inspirational.  nicely formed petals.

I look forward to the pros offering suggestions so that I may learn also.
