Hi, i have been looking at these machines but both are having thier own downfalls,
Cricut, easy to get hold of but noticed i cant use my own images?
Silhouette - more expensive and i need the Linda McClure version for cakes, which is not available to buy in the UK?
Any recommendations or what have others done?
AI have never used the Silhouhette but I think it looks amazing and seems to have more design options. I don't know much about the software though, after buying my Cricut I wished I would have known about the Silhouette first. Honestly, I did a lot of research before I purchased the Cricuit (well not enough apparently because I didn't realize there were others out there!) anyway when I first used it I didn't have any problems! I rolled my fondant on the mat and stuck it in the fridge for a sec and it was great. I've had the thing for two years and I've only used it maybe twice. Honestly, most items it's faster for me to print a template and use an exacto knife. I always think if I was more organized I would have it setup and easily accessible but for now it's not so I always forget to get it out.

The Cricut Cake is no longer being produced. So if you go with it, you may not be able to get supplies in the future. Also, you need to buy cartridges to use with any Cricut machine.
You can buy the Silhouette and have it shipped to you. The great thing about the Silhouette is using your computer to create your own designs. I use mine almost everyday in my shop. It is a great time saver, and I can create very unique cakes.
