Go to www.craftsy.com. They have a  free class on buttercream by joshua russell. And a free mini class on fondant. I learned some techniques by watching them. It will give you an idea on online classes. I do not know about the classes you are talking about. Also, www.youtube.com has alot of tutorials.

ALearnCakeDecoratingOnline.com has a free class its $9.99/month they have some famous, very talented decorators teaching the classes.

Craftsy is great too, they have like 2/3 free classes also.

Depending on your skill level, if you are still working on baking, icing, etc. you should check out MyCakeSchool.com it's $30/year she starts with the basics and more advanced.

I would like to know if you liked them, and thought they were good value?

Was it easy to buy everything you needed (they have an online shop)?

I haven't put up the website address as it would probably be deleted by the administrators and I am not advertising - I am just seeking advice, so any input gratefully received!

I was going through the forums (which I do all the time) and thought "I've got to answer this question" because I'm a member at Pretty Witty Cakes and have been to so many classes there!

The online classes are really clear and so easy to follow, with close up shots and full explanations.

There is a whole team of tutors, it's not just one person teaching you, and they're all pros.  So, there are several people teaching big cakes, a specialist in pastries, a bread specialist, a cupcake specialist (Suzi herself), etc.

Their videos cover so many things for people of all levels.  If you have experience/confidence, they have big cake projects like three tier wedding cakes and dragons and ruffle cakes, but they also cover all the more straightforward stuff like cupcakes, chocolate ganache, cake recipes, ********** novelty characters, cookies, pastries...  Plus they're bringing new videos and projects out all the time, so you never get bored.

There are hundreds of videos.

If I want to buy a tool used in a video, I just click on the link and it turns up the next day.  Plus, the prices are really competitive so I don't have to shop around...

It's definitely worth $50 a year plus they have a monthly payment option.  As Tenitram and Smc said, there are other options out there too, but I like PWC as you get a lot for your money.

Hi Lassie, I thought I posted here yesterday but guess not... Pretty Witty Cakes is great, I'm a member there!

It's really easy to follow (lots of close up shots and clear explanations), there's a big range of classes and projects and they're coming out with new stuff all the time thumbs_up.gif

I signed up for a year's subscription ($50), but you can also pay monthly if you're not so sure.

They have a couple of free classes too, the bride and groom cupcakes I think so you can dip your toes in the water (doesn't everyone?).

I guess a big difference with places like craftsy is that you don't ever have to dig into your pockets, everything is included in the price, and they email you every time there's something new so I'm learning so much.  Very addictive.

Thanks for your answers, but I'm asking about Pretty Witty Cakes.  Has anyone tried Pretty Witty Cakes?  Should I be the first?

AAdvertising is absolutly NOT ALLOWED on Cake Central forums. Creating fake accounts to drive traffic to your site will only result in giving your site a BAD REPUTATION FOR LYING AND MISLEADING OUR COMMUNITY - IT UNETHICAL. Knock it off.

I have already banned members for trying to drive traffic to this new pay-to-play website and will continue to do so. I am not deleting this thread so I can ask our wonderful community to please flag posts and members that are here only to sell their website to you.

Be wary of new members with low post counts creating threads asking about this new website. Chances are they are here to try and trick you into going onto the website they are asking about so you will buy classes. This is unethical and if it keeps happening we will have no choice but to block the website entirely.

Thank you.

Except the member that posted that thread is a contributing member of CC. They didn just recently join and have 10 posts all asking about the same pay to play website. Just needed to clarify the difference.

I, too, am in no way responsible. I flagged similar posts a couple of days ago but nothing was removed. Above, I called out someone who appears to be misusing CC. I'm not sure why the Mod later decided to delete my post, but leave my name. Now it looks as if I am also responsible.
