Does anyone know where I can get a reasonably priced cake plateau that needs at least 30". We are having a Mardi Gras King Cake for my daughter's wedding, plus it's 4 tiered, bottom needs to be 30, then 16", 12' and top is 8". Any ideas? I don't necessarily want to spend $100 on something like this, it doesn't have to be silver, just something better than the boring white plastic it's coming on. thanks!
For that size, you will probably have to have one made for you, say, out of wood. I'm trying to picture putting a 30-inch cake in my oven.
Unless you manage to find one second hand, you will never find one for less than $100. Honestly, I have never even seen a 30" plateau. Normally 22" is the largest they will go.
Do you mean you are having 4 separate cakes that each need their own stand, or are they stacked? My understanding of king cakes is that they are a ring, sort of like a bundt cake shape.
I would double check that size with your baker, even in my commercial oven, I wouldn't be able to do a 30" round.
your best bet is to find or build a wooden box and drape it with a nice fabric and maybe some flowers that complement the green, purple and gold...are there going to be babies baked in each tier of your King cake? lol
