I have a bride that would like this look in mixed metallics w/o the flowers....

It will be on buttercream.

Do I do rice paper painted metallics?  I'm worried they will curl.

Or thin fondant circles?

And they are so small....but bigger than any hole punch I've ever seen.  What could I use?

I don't know who the original artist is to try to get instructions.

AThin small disks of gumpaste.

This cake will be a lot of extra work, so please charge accordingly.

Gumpaste. You could punch them out with a large round piping tip.

Unfortunately I don't think I charged anything above the $4.00/serving for the cake....

When we were discussing design I didn't think it looked too difficult.

It's a smaller cake for about people so hopefully it won't be too bad.

I hate when I do that, fortunately I don't make a habit of underestimating!

Smaller? That's a big cake! Well, either way, I think those could be done with gelatin as well, and that very well may be what those are.

Just curious...how would you go about doing that with gelatin?

Could you spray an edible image paper gold, and punch them out with various sizes of hole punch? I say various sizes because the pic looks like the confetti is different sizes. Or just use a regular hole punch, so you don't have to buy new stuff for one cake.

This was my initial plan, but I am going to google the gelatin sequins that AZCouture suggested.  I would love for them to have that light and airy look to them.

AYep, that's what will give you that look. When you find the tutorials you'll get it. Gold luster mixed in will help, rather than dusting on later or airbrushing.

I watched the tutorial!

Looks like it would eliminate a step for me as far as adding in the metallics, which I like.

Does the gelatin react to humidity once it's dry?  I'm guessing it does to some degree....

Thanks for the input AZCouture.  The cake is for Aug 24, I will post pics then!

Hi every1. Just wondering are the flowers also done with gelatine or would that be rice paper? My sister wants this for her wedding and I'm doing a mini trial this weekend and kinda stuck.

I think they are gelatin here, too.  My bride didn't want flowers.  It's such a fun technique...so glad I did it.  And easy, too!

Here's a pic of my cake.

You did a wonderful job!!  Congratulations!

May I ask which tutorial you used to do the sequins?  I'd love to have a go....
