Long time lurker here. Due to time constraints with three jobs, I haven't done much decorating this year. But I get the odd "job" from family members or friends of family members. Which I keep simple and low numbers so not to take on too much. 

I've been asked by my aunts friend to help her out for her daughters wedding (I actually babysat her a billion years ago, so I think thats why I'm going to do it). The bride doesn't actually want a cake. After some pressuring, she said she would only want her grandmothers banana cupcakes. Her grandmother wants to make them for her. The mother of the bride wants a cake for the cutting picture. So she has asked me to ice 200 cupcakes (as grandma isn't able to do that much) and an 8 inch round made with the same grandma banana cake. 

How much would you charge for that? No complicated decorating. Just a swirl of buttercream is all. 

So you are not making the BC or the cupcakes? All you are doing is piping on a glob of BC? That's simple. All you have to figure out is what your hourly rate is and how many you can do in an hour...

Thanks for replying! I will be making the buttercream. I'm just picking up the cupcakes and cake, icing them and then dropping them off. 

Well if you are making the BC, picking them up, cleaning your kitchen, delivering, etc...then you need to account for ALL of that time as well as ingredients.

ASince its a personal relationship you really need to decide what you are comfortable charging. Maybe it's just for the supplies, maybe you charge for time as well, maybe you also tack on delivery and pickup. It's really up to you. Are they even expecting to have to pay?

They are expecting to pay for it for sure. I'm going to charge for supplies and delivery. Thanks for all the advice!
