So I need to do a flesh toned cake in MF. Thing is there's only multi-colored mallows at the store. I got a couple bags and I'm wondering: use the yellow or the orange and add the colouring? HELP!!!!!A.S.A.P!!!!!

By the way, this cake is due to be collected in 4 hours....

AI don't think you are going to make that deadline. I would advise you to purchase ready-made fondant for this one.

4 hours? Can you buy fondant?

If you can't, I would use mainly white marshmallows, and add a handful of each orange and yellow, and see what the colour looks like once they are melted. Remember, once the sugar is added, it will lighten up some, but it's better for a flash colour to be too pale than too bright.

I HAVE to make deadline!

I live on an island..we don't have pre-made readily available. And there's NO WHITE in the stores. Only multi. So I've picked out the orange ones. Have no choice but to try these. I remember using a bit of extra peach paste when I first got my baby mold and it could pass. Wish me luck!

And thanks for the replies.

Don't the mult-colored marshmallows have flavor?  I thought they were flavored or do they make them non-flavored now?

I do believe you are correct.

AColor is not what most concerns me. All MMF recipes I've seen you've got to let the fondant rest before you use it. AT LEAST a couple of hours. I'm not sure how useable it's going to be....

I've only ever made a really simple type... melt marshmallows with a touch of water and corn syrup, mix in sugar, and it can be used right away.

Unbelievably sweet, but easy to work with as soon as it's made, lol.

Really!? Hmm I have to look at that. The one I use the fondant is just too stretchy (not sure if that's the right descriptive term) it doesn't hold well.

OP, I retract my statement. If your recipe lets you use it right away..your plan of using orange is good got a lady minute save

Made the deadline!

I ended up frosting the cake and with the very last of the fondant scraps I had I did an outline of the original pattern. Looked pretty okay. She was beaming as she toted it away so I'd say she mind the change in decor.

And for future reference: There's a reason all MF tutes have you use white mallows. Either the color or the flavor that's in the non-white ones DO NOT LIKE MICROWAVES. The ones I tried pretty much refused  to melt and actually got kinda scorched -yes, there was water in the bowl.

Again guys, thanks for the replies
