Woke up in middle of the night thinking this might not work.

I'm making a gift box cake for my daughter's birthday. I am making the kind with the lid and tissue paper. The cake will be going down a day early with a relative. The dinner house perfers the cake to be frozen.

1. Should I just freeze the cake and not the lid and tissue paper?

2. what happens to gumpaste when it's frozen and comes back to room temp? Does it get soft like fondant?

3. If I freeze the cake in it's box then right before it heads to dinner house put the lid and tissue paper on will the gumpaste lid and tissue paper get soft from cake thawing? The cake would sit out for probably 6 hrs thawing .

If I choose not to freeze cake would that help a little if putting lid and tissue on after taken out of frig?

thanks for help
