(don't know why its so long..maybe I didn't do it properly? sorry )

I know that she made reference to it being two layers but is each layer torted? I'm worried the two layers I've baked will not present the same height her picture seems to have. Has anyone made this cake design? Suggestions?

AI think she meant the bottom cake (and first step) is two layers. I'd stack and fill, then make a couple more square/sheet cakes to cut and build up the other steps. You'll need some internal support for the taller layers. Hope that makes sense.
