I've never had this happen before but when I covered the cake with fondant, it looked good and then about 5-10 minutes later, I noticed it started getting bumpy and noticed it was air bubbles. I popped them with a needle and smoothed it out. But once again, it started forming air bubbles again. What would cause this to happen? Its never happened before with other cakes and I've done it the same way.

OK. i have read on here what to do next. You have to use a thin skewer and make a little hole down in the cake. This lets the air escape. You can also, take a spatula and run under edge of cake and lift just a little. You can use the skewer into side of cake, etc. But you must let this air escape. hth
