The ads that expand on the right side? How to turn OFF?

Please tell me there is an option to disable those. I have a feeling that they are even positioned there because that's where some sort of research has shown that people naturally hover there with their mouse. It's so annoying! If you're trying to scroll down, and you accidentally hover too long in the wrong spot, annoyingly loud buzzing starts, and you get a full frame advertisement in your face!

Please say there's a way to stop it? Please? It's getting really obnoxious.

I thought using an ad blocker was against the CC terms of service.

Search for "block".

Also of note, spammers apparently owe CC $50 for each spammy post.

Sorry, I meant to use the browser find feature (Ctrl + F in Firefox for Windows) on the Terms of Service page.

Well, I am hereby suggesting that particular style of advertising be reconsidered. No one wants huge in your face ads that make a bunch of noise.

I barely passed my mouse over the latest one, and it instantly popped up. Yeah...come on. Not cool.

I second this emotion!

Beginners, be sure to parrot advice and get your post count up as fast as you can. After all, it's not what you know, it's what people THINK you know.
