Hi everyone, I need some help.  I am attempting to make a my very first 3d bulldog cake for my daughters graduation next week.  I want to start to bake the cakes, fill them, carve & crumb coat it today and then put in the freezer, wrapped in plastic wrap and then foil.

I've already shaped the head out of RKT.  This will be a standing on all 4's cake.

So here are my questions:

How can I get the RKT to stick to the bottom without it falling off?  Or is Molding clay better than RKT?

Do I wrap the head in plastic wrap or can I leave it out for when I'm ready to add it to the body?

Which is the best filling that will freeze well?

Once the cake is completely decorated I want to put it back in the freezer and take it out the day of the party which is Saturday.

So how do I wrap a 3d completely decorated cake?  There is no cake box big enough for this size of cake.  I've read hear that you can freeze a completely decorated cake that's in it's cake box.  But in this case...cake boxes don't come that big.  So I do I attempt this?

Any pointers, suggestions etc. are much appreciated.  Thanks

I'd just put it in the fridge until it hardens up, then wrap it in plastic wrap really well before freezing it. How big is ti going to be?

Thanks for replying.  I think it's about 20 inches long and about a foot or so high.  Structure is still being put together.

AIf that will fit in the freezer then just wrapping it with plastic and making sure it's all encased should be okay for a week or less. Just take the plastic off and put it in the fridge when it's time to defrost. Do it gradually. i'm not a Fan of freezing anything, you never know what the colors will do if they'lre painted on or whatever, but you basically want to avoid condensation as much as possible, so warm it up bit by bit.

As far as the head. If it's rice krispies then I would leave that out and attach it later. What does the structure to attach it to th head look like? Is it sitting on a platform or anything? If you attach it using melted chocolate that should hold it like cement, but it would have to be supported on something.

Thanks to hubby the 3d bulldog structure is done.  I didn't realize how heavy that thing is....it weights 6 lbs and that's without any candy clay or cake.  I think by the time I'm finished with this cake it's going to weight about 15 lbs.  Don't know if that's way too heavy but the wood is about 1/4 in thick.

Can't wait to get home from work so I can get started on the belly part of this dog.  Wish me luck.
