A customer is wanting a cake using this stand, I am reluctant to buy one simply because I see it as a trend and will have it sitting there with no use in a short time.  I also worry about getting shipped to me on time AND the price.  $330 more or less.

I haven't been able to find anybody who has one to rent it from.

Ok my question??  Has anybody made an eiffel tower cake before?  Did you use Royal Icing, Gumpaste or something else?

And any advice would be helpful as well

If anybody knows someone who rents it as well, that would be helpful.

I would just make the pieces with Mexican Paste or gum paste, using a large print out, then prop them up against clear pillars.

And where is the food part of that display?

If I understood it right, those white plasticie things are supposed to be changed out to cake.  I looked on other pic and it comes with clear pillars and plates.

I still think the money is not worth it for this, and she, the customer is willing to rent but not buy either. lol
