Another question about pricing ;)

Hi, I sell cakes to friends and family only and charge 55$ for a simple 8 inch round fondant cake based on pricing I saw and calculated. BUT my cake is about 5-6 inches tall (two +/- 2in cakes plus frosting, filling and fondant) . How tall are your basic 8 in cakes? Is my pricing ok or should I modify? Should I just use one layer and tort it? My torted 8 in (about 3 inches high when done) I usually leave for 30$....with fondant. Thank you for clarifying and for your advice!

Two layer cakes are typically 4-5" tall. We start at $44 for a basic 8" BC cake and $74 for a basic 8" cake covered in fondant.

My 8" cakes are always very tall as well because the WASC recipe fills both of the pans so nicely.  It's very cost-effective.  I have recently started charging  $80-$85 per cake, regardless of what it's decorated with.  (Usually it's buttercream with fondant accents).  Initially I started pricing at $60, but I thought it was too low, so now I'm higher in my prices.

I guess i really need to change my prices and charge more.
