AWhat in the world is a 3 levelled plain cake?

And how is a CC member who lives in, say, California or Melbourne supposed to know what ingredients are "easy to get" on Ireland?

I meant a plain vanilla cake which is made up of three layers? and I meant for people living in other countries to save people writing up their recipes and me not even understanding them?

Hi Ruth I live in Ireland too.I make my sponge using the following ingredients

400grams caster sugar

400grams self raising flour

8 large eggs at room temperature

400grams of margarine at room temperature

cream butter and sugar in mixer until pale and light and fluffy, add half the eggs and sieve in half the flour and mix well, add the rest of the eggs and sieved flour and beat slowly until combined

this mix makes enough for 3 9inch tins(3 layers) Bake at 180(electric fan oven)adjust for your own oven for 20minutes or until a knife put in centre of cake comes out clean.hope this helps.if you want recipe for buttercream can give you that as well. What part of Ireland are you from.
