I have a customer that has requested a cake, she wants a microphone with pink handle, no biggie, however, it is for a baby shower and she wants to incorporate it somehow.  I've had some strange request and always been able to come up with something, but this one, I just can't figure out how to make a microphone baby shower cake.  Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance!

Yes, that does sound strange... maybe the baby's rattle could look like a microphone. You could put a gum paste baby covered in a pink quilted blanket on the top of the cake with baby powder, a small stack of diapers, baby's rattle (microphone), bottles... baby things around on the cake... add flowers to the other layers... maybe a quilted look to a tier. hope some of this helps....

Thank you for the ideas.  The cake itself is a sculpted microphone so no other tiers (I should have said that).

Sounds like the cake should just be made as a rattle shaped like a microphone... put a 'ring' element at the bottom end, then shape the center handle part wider at the top than the bottom, then keep the top section domed and nearly fully rounded.  I'm thinking like a half-golf ball type thing...with all the dimples.

This cake will be laying on a board flat or on a sheet, right?  or propped/standing upright 3D-style somehow?
