My shipment of tylose from CK is all grainy - Thirty bottles and it leaves tiny bumps in the fondant. I guess this is another example of product down grading...I would love to find a supplier other than CK for cake related items in general - not very satisfied with them.
That's why I saw a bundle of 3 jars of CK tylose on eBay for 8.49 - seemed like too good of a price.
I use the Confectionary Arts brand, purchased from Nicholas Lodge. Would love to find a larger size to purchase as well.

I may just order it from China. That may be where these companies get it. It looks like you can get a kilo for about $35. I emailed the China rep and he said to find out what particle size I need so I don't wind up with the stuff CK bought. On a side note, the wire I ordered from CK is on back order. They said it was on a boat and they never know when the boats are coming exactly. (I'm guessing that's a slow boat from China? teehee)
I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be better just to get this stuff directly.
I called CAI and they're sending me a sample and they charge $2 each for a jar if you order 30. That $60...I'm thinking if I order 3 kilo's from the Chinese company (min order) I'll be much better off in the long run.
A kilo would be roughly 18 of the 55 gram size jars - so ordering directly from CAI is about the same price as your source from China. (both around $35 to $36/kilo).
Thanks for posting about ordering directly from CAI - I had read that before and forgot until you just posted about it.

Thanks, Liz! I hadn't done the math. A kilo just sounded like so much. That makes the CAI seem like the best option.
