Hi All,

I was asked to re-create this cake for a friend. Was wondering if you had any tips for making the bottles?? She wants pink wine bottles. She actually wants me to use the mini wine bottles with wine in them to hold up the cake. Is this possible? Any tips are greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Yes its possible because the wine bottles will act as your separators.  Sorry I don't know how to make the bottles but I've seen on cc and youtube, tutorials for making them. Also craftsy has an isomalt tutorial and shows how to make them.

AThank you! So can I use the real wine bottles instead of making them? Is that safe? That's what she requested bc she wants to drink the wine.

Sure why not?  From the looks of the pic, the bottles don't touch anything but separator plates.  I would clean them up just the same.  But they will be sturdy enough and if that is what she wants???  Maybe she has never seen isomalt bottles made.

Just make sure the bottle tops (and bottoms) are flat - some of the small wine and pink champagne bottles I have seen have curved tops so the top cake wouldnt have somewhere flat to rest on.

Don't forget to support the bottles so that they don't mess up your pretty cake. :)
