I have just recently started decorating cakes again after a 20 year break and I am loving every minute of it.  I have made 7 cakes for my work collegues already and now have another 12 orders.  My problem is that I am finding it very hard to charge for them, I did originally charge £35 but found they were costing me about £20 and I was spending hours on them.

So can someone please advise me on an acceptable basic rate for different sized cakes.  I understand the decoration makes a difference but just a basic charge would be helpful.

You really need to figure out how much it costs you to make the cake and then add on your time, effort, and delivery. I used excel to figure out how much my recipes cost me.
