I have been approached by a company who manufacturers a specific ingredient and presently sells iced cookies utilizing their ingredient. Their baker is retiring and they have asked me if I presently bake (or am open to the idea of baking) for a private label.
My guess is that they would provide me with their "secret recipe", the special ingredient and design specifications. I would then produce cookies that they would resell on their website/venues under their own private label.
I have absolutely no experience in this realm and wonder if any of you all do. Any personal experiences appreciated!
As an aside: I appreciate that there are various opinions on this site about home-based/licensed bakeries and I will certainly seek input from the appropriate authorities about whether my particular license/inspection allows me to enter into a "private label" production agreement. For the time-being, let's assume that that part works out and leave it out of this discussion. :)
