How often will you re-use your gumpaste, after you've rolled it out, made your cuts for whatever decoration you are making?  Do you just roll it back up, knead it a bit, then roll it out again, repeat until it's gone?  Or do you only re-use a couple of times?

Before this weekend, I had only used Wilton pre-made gumpaste.  It tends to dry out a bit, even with kneading in some shortening.  I made for the first time Nicholas Lodge's gumpaste and used it on Sunday.  It too got a bit dry but came back to life after kneading in some shortening.

So it just made me wonder, do you only reuse your GP a certain amount of times before that bit gets tossed?

Thanks for your input.

By the way, I'll probably never buy pre-made gumpaste again, as the NL recipe was easy to make, and a lot cheaper than buying it.
