I'm working on a quote for this cake and I have no idea how many flowers are on the topper and then around the bottom "tier", which looks like some sort of light up box. I have an idea for pricing the rest of the cake, minus the flowers. I'm thinking with THAT many flowers, that I would purchase ready made flowers to make my life easier since I'm the only one at my shop who can make sugar flowers. And i really don't feel like making that many! So if someone has an idea of how many flowers are on there, I could get a better idea of how many I would need to order and then how much to charge her.
I would love to see how people would price it as well. Here are my thoughts:
I'm thinking is a 6/8/double 10/12/14. It looks like the 8 and the 12 are shorter or the 6 and 14 are taller, but I'm not sure. If I were to do it, I would make the 8 and 12 three layers of cake and the 6 and 14 would be four layers of cake. The 10 would be a double stack with 8 layers and a board after 4 layers. My base price for just the cakes would be $889.50. The upcharges don't see too challenging but time consuming. It looks like sugar pearls or drages on the 6, a lace mold on the 8, the bow and rouching (sp?) on the 10, and then some piping and more lace mold on the 12 and 14. Plus all of the bling! Without all of the flowers, I'm looking at about $1300. I estimated the servings to be about 214, but I didn't really calculate how many the shorter tiers would serve. That is about $6 per serving before the flowers are added.
I'm just waiting for this bride to respond that she only has a $300 budget. :/
Oh and the wedding is June 15 of this year!! June is still fairly open so I have no problem doing it but I'm worried she'll be a PIA.
