150 serve Wedding Cake

Hi,

I am making my brothers wedding cake that need to serve 150 people. I had decided to do a 3 tiered mud cake with the layers being 6inch, 10inch and 16inch. I would like their to be some definition between the layers. I have now realised that the 16inch might not fit in my oven. I have not yet purchased the 16inch tin but have looked at my oven and believe it will not fit. I am willing to make it a 4 tiered cake but am unsure of the cake sizes.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

You could look into getting a half pan if you would like the 16 inch size.

Search for the cake calculator on google....and click the link that has shinymetalobjects as the website....it has a great calculator for tier sizes and servings...let me know if you need any info!

You should consider a 6 round-10 round-14 square.  That gives excellent definition, fits all ovens, and guarantees enough cake.

Hi, Thank you all for your helpful replies. I have decided to do a four tiered cake, 4inch, 7inch, 10inch and 14inch. Hopefully it will work out.

Thanks Again

OK so for your next step,  please look for instructions how to dowel the cakes so that they sit nicely.  Use the CC search or google "cake dowel support" and use what they suggest.
