Hi Friends, I am an amateur baker and have been volunteered to bake a birthday cake for a dear friend. Given there will be a large crowd, I thought I would tackle a layer cake using two 12 inch pans. Can anybody recommend any recipes that I might consider? Thank you.

The area of a 9" pan is 63.6 square inches.  If your usual recipe makes 2 9 inch layers, that is 127.2 square inches

The area of a 12" pan is 113 square inches.

If you use your regular recipe that fills 2 9" pans, it will fill one 12" pan to a slightly greater depth.  If your regular recipe only fills 1 9" pan, then you would need to double it.
