Hey all,

I have a bit of a strange question to ask, hopefully someone can help me.

I recently bought a 2lb tub Fondx "hot pink" fondant. Initially, it was to be used to make cupcake topper disks for a pre-wedding party. There has been a change of plans and will now be used to cover a 2-layer 8 inch round cake. The thing is, I think there may be a lot of fondant leftover and I dont want it to go to waste. I actually want to use it to maybe make a different colored band going around the bottom of the cake as a border, that I will then stencil over, or maybe make a large circle cutout to attach to the top of the cake and stencil on that.

Can I change the hot pink color to another color using gel color? Maybe like a hot orange? any other suggestions???

Thanks!

Sure you can change the color.  Not sure  you can go hot orange but certainly make it lavenday/purple :)  Just knead paste color into the fondant.

Maybe even change it to brown or black the same way.

Thanks for the suggestion kakeladi..I was thinking the same thing for purple. I think I will just test it with a small ball first and add red/blue to get it to a shade I like.
