AHey guys, I'm making a birthday cake and I have to either ice on a pic of spongebob or make him out of fondant, pleeeease help! Which one is easier? And any tips how to? Because I'm stumped... :/
I can't say which is harder because I have very limited experience.. but I think printing out the image and then using it as a template to make the outline on the cake, and piping in with stars like the typical character cakes are done, just seems easier to me.
And spongebob seems like it would be easy because you can just bake a 9x13 cake and it's already the right shape :)
I've checked out this site quite a few times, even though I haven't made a character cake .. yet. Seems simple enough, some people use different techniques, and for each cake the person explained how they made it.
Some go into greater detail than others. >> http://www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com/sponge-bob-cake.html
This is another method that can be used >> http://www.wilton.com/decorating/patterns/transferring-patterns.cfm
This one also has some good tips and tricks. >> http://stircrazyshell.wordpress.com/2012/04/19/character-cake-tips-tricks/
Just a few things that hopefully help you out!
AFor a clean look, there is no beating fondant.
