Hi all!

I have a client who ordered 2 cakes. One was for today, for her last working day(she is pregnant) and it was a simple strawberry cake with pipping cream  and the other one is for this saturday, a baby shower cake.

I meet her last friday to discuss what she wanted. She really wanted to meet, because she was very much scared that I wouldn't get what she wanted for a cake....icon_eek.gif her friend had a previous bad experience with a baker that didn't do what she wanted. It just made me think if this was the baker mistake or her friend who didn't explain herself well. We know many clients do this. They say they want one thing and after they say, no, no it wasn't like that...arhhhhhg!

Anyway, the thing is, she wrote me an email 30 min. ago saying this prhase:

"The Strawberry cake was very good! I felt the icing to be a little extra sweet, but others liked it, so I am happy.

Thanks!"

What should I answer her as she still have to receive her other cake that there will be sugar paste and crocant as filling...clear that it's sweet!

Nobody have ever said that my icing is super sweet. It is actually the oposit, people love my cakes because they aren't a sugar bomb. I live in Finland and people doesn't like very sweet things. Ahhh,by the way important to say this lady is not finnish.

It's the first time it happens and I don't know what to say...well, in mind I just want tell her the sweetness is subjetive...but I know I can't just answer like this.icon_mad.gif

AOn, ok you do have to address the other comment.

"I'm so glad you liked it! I'm sorry to hear that you felt the frosting was sweeter than you prefer. Most of my clients prefer my frosting to some of the sweeter versions. I truly hope you will enjoy the pairing of x flavor with y filling and my buttercream.

She didn't say anything about her concerns for this coming Saturday so don't you mention it.
Honestly, don't get in a bother over it........ you could open up a can of worms that doesn't need opening.

No matter her nationality, every body has varying taste buds....  I didn't enjoy seafood whilst pregnant.... but loved it before and loved it again after son was born... it happens.

remnant3333,

That's exactly what I wonder, if she will able to swallow the fondant... What I got from our meeting, looked like she never tried it. She was already a pain....when we met, so I was really thinking if she didn't like the sweetness of this cake, she will hate the other cake and she will problaly complain about it as well!

I will answer her now, let's see what she answers back.

Already thanking you all for the tipsicon_smile.gif
