..."I want you to bake me a cake, what flavors do you have?"  Do you give them a huge list of different cakes you can make or do you just ask them what flavors they like?

Also, do you taste every cake you make before selling them?

Sorry, maybe these are dumb questions, but I'm so new to this!

AReally I mean really the list could go on forever with flavors, I mean you can make very few flavors or there are people who have so many flavors it will make your head spin. I would just ask them what flavor/flavors they are interested in and what flavor filling they want. Next question I personally don't sell my cakes ( I'm a hobby baker) but yes I do taste every one of my cakes . I level each one of my cakes and I try the cake scraps to make sure that I'm happy with the cake.

AI agree chocolate and vanilla are most people's favorites but reading the thread that I will put a link to just shows you the list could be endless.

I have a list of my most popular, it's about 20 flavours long, with a little disclaimer that there are many more available.

Yeah all those flavors could make your head swim but I would love to make all those flavors.

I cheat on my chocolate cake kinda , I take hot fudge topping and use that as a filling. People love it.

AI usually don't meet my clients in person until they pick up the cake, so I typically refer customers to the "menu" page of my website. I have a relatively limited selection, but that is in part because I have to submit ingredient lists to the health department and can only sell cakes (and fillings and frostings) that don't have to be refrigerated.

If I do start to do more face to face consultations I will most likely have a printed list available to give to/go over with clients.

Hope that helps!

AI tell them to check our web site, and fill out the order form on the site when they are ready to order.
