hey everyone,

I did find an older thread related to PRE-ROLLED fondant and travelling, but my question is a little different so I am starting a new thread.

Ok so I am making cupcakes for my sister's wedding events to be held out of town on May 31st.

I am planning to make fondant discs for about 36 of the cupcakes like in the picture:

The colors I need to make are dark purple (regal purple), bright orange and a leaf green similiar/or identical to the one in the picture.

I am planning to make a test batch out of homemade fondant and just coloring the heck out of it until the color matches! :)

So my question is this, suppose I make the test batch this week (sometime in April) and it turns out to be a color the right color (and I want to use it for the actual event), will it survive me travelling, all rolled up in a ball in saran wrap, packed in my suitcase?

I will basically be travelling through airports for a good 12 hours, and im planning to put the fondant into my checked suitcase.

I wont be rolling it out until a couple of weeks late (maybe like the last week of May so I can dust the stencil on it etc.)

Sooooo long question short: Is it alright to make the fondant this far in advance and will a rolled up ball of fondant be able to survive in a suitcase for about a day?

Your advice is much appreciated!
