Hi all, I have been making cakes and other bakery items for a year now as a side business, but haven't broken out of "inner circle" customers. I have tried leads groups and traditional networking, but find that I mostly meet self employed individuals on a tight budget. I have met a lot of people who are "willing to take any sample cakes off (my) hands" but no one willing to pay for the quality of cake and decoration I do. I would really like to make this a self-sustaining business over the next  months or so.

So I ask you. Where, and how, do you promote your business to get actual paying customers?

AThat depends on your target market. Are you seeking clients wanting birthday cakes? If so, look for a mom's group that meets in a nice part of town. Wedding cakes? Talk to venues & planners.

Who is your target?
