I am a hobby baker and I'd like to make cupcakes for dtrs kindergarten class that look like birds nests. I was thinking about toasting coconut to put on top but I'm afraid there may be a lot of kindergartners that wouldn't like it. Any other suggestions on what I may be able to do/use? (that's relatively simple) thanks!

You know that bran cereal that looks like sticks, lol for lack of a better example. I don't remember the name but you cant miss them in the cereal isle.  I would be leery of coconut because of food allergies. hthicon_wink.gif

There's a few things you could do - some that spring to mind immediately are piping chocolate frosting to look like a little nest; using chocolate sprinkles instead of the coconut; or piping some melted chocolate into strings and then molding it into a birds nest shape but this might be a bit unnecessarily complicated for little kindergarteners :)
