usually red velvet has a little bit of cocoa and a lot of red food color so without knowing exactly what you used it's hard to say exactly why yours came out brown instead of red

what kind of food color did you use?

there's a formula for using beetroot because it's not straight forward-- where you just put it in and it works you have to do some certain steps

you can do a search for it because someone blogged about it if you can find it out there

the recipe i use has like 6 tablespoons of red food colouring and some cocoa. Mine turn out red. How much food colouring does ur recipe say to use? This is the recipe i use and ive never had a bad batch or a negetive compliment
