I am looking for some help on how to make the boom of a crane.  My dad has been a crane operator his entire life and is finally retiring.  I know he would love to see me make his crane into a cake.  However, I am stuck with how to make the boom.  I am unsure what to use so that it will not tear the cake, etc.  Unfortunately, i have yet to find a lot of suggestions on making a crane cake...it just is not a popular cake to make (at least one that doesn't look childish).  Any suggestions?? AYou could form it from RKT along with a sturdy construction . PVC pipe could work
