AI'm going to be making an upper body with cake and the head is going to be RKT/MC/Fondant. Before I start this , is there any suggestions or tips for me about attaching the head to the cake body. The body will be about 4-5 layers high. I don't want a headless person.
i'm not thinking of what mc is? all i can think of is master card
but my biggest idea for you is really pack the h*ll out of the rkt while it is warm
and let them set up overnight
the gelatin needs to do whatever it is that gelatin does
and it takes time to do that
you are making your rkt yes?
but you could cut the torso out of super packed down fresh made but day old rkt too
if i were doing this--i would make the head and neck and arms separate from the trunk
and--i will link you to a breathy post i wrote yesterday about rkt that you can adapt to your endeavor if you want
just some tips in here that might be pertinent
mc = modeling choco of course!!!
edited to add clickable linkage ;) http://cakecentral.com/t/755317/how-to-give-clay-like-effect-on-cake
you can smoothify the nubbley texture with a microplan or the 'mc' + fondant could do that too
oh i got this all wrong didn't i--got off on a tangent about what is 'mc' & didn't pay attention
sorry!!!
i got it now
it's a cake body and rkt head
use a nice long dowel in the head (ouch) secured firmly all the way into the foam under the bottom board and use board and dowel under the head too
there's still some good tips in the other post
