Missing 6" Sps Plate - How Should I Stack???
Decorating By cherrycakes Updated 16 Mar 2013 , 2:10pm by cherrycakes
Help!!!! I'm making a 10/8/6 cake for tomorrow which will be driven two hours to the venue. I just realized that I don't have a 6" plate :( Now what???? Do I use the 8" SPS plate and bubble tea straws for the 6"? Would a Wilton 6" plate work with the SPS legs? Or just use bubble tea straws and a dowel?
Unfortunately I won't be delivering the cake so stacking the 6" at the venue is not an option. The cake will travel chilled. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
AMost columns won't work with other SPS plates.
In this case, you'll need to use an alternate method. Maybe use the columns but a 6" cake board? That would be similar to the straw method but have the nice sturdy columns.
AAlso, in his case, I would put A single dowel down to the other SPS plate (through the 6" & 8").
Thank you very much for your suggestion DeliciousDesserts! I hadn't thought of that option and was going to go with it until I realized that my middle tier was going to be covered in rosettes and that I could easily cover a larger SPS plate. So it all worked out well but I'll definitely remember your suggestion for future cakes!
