Hello everyone! I'm an at home baker& I received my first quarter sheet cake order. How do bakeries get that super smooth frosting on sheet cakes? Do they use a special tool or is it ran through some type of machine? Lol please share any tips or tricks!  Thank you in advance! :) here are some examples of what I'm trying to accomplish-

Welcome to the forum.  Bakeries use 5 gallon buckets of frosting that is very consistent, stable, and the proper consistency to spread more easily.  The decorators who did those 3 example cakes are people who may have decorated hundreds, or even thousands of similar cakes in a commercial kitchen with all the correct tools.

You can replicate this at home with some practice.  Here is a good, basic video that lists and demonstrates the tools and techniques needed.

Youtube has many wonderful free videos.

You're very welcome.  It is helpful to post some photos or a link to photos of cakes you have done when asking for general decorating tips.  It helps forum members to know your skill level, so we can offer the most pertinent advice for each situation.

Here is a thread from the Wilton.com forum that has some wonderful links for new decorators:
